Overview

This position provides general medical care and treatment to patients in a clinic or hospital setting under the direction of a collaborating Physician.

Oncology PA/NP - Crystal Lake, IL

Mercyhealth is seeking a Board Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our busy Oncology team in Crystal Lake, IL. Mercyhealth is a multi-regional, integrated health system comprising five hospitals, more than 600 employed physicians, over 80 outpatient clinics and other service sites that provide care to residents in more than 60 communities throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Qualifications:

  • Accredited schooling through a Physician Assistant Degree Program or Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Obtain CME experience as required for re-certification
  • Hold valid state license and CME credits for license renewal
  • Current DEA number
  • ATLS certification
  • Other certifications as required

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess patient data and performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician
  • Maintain timely consult schedule.
  • Provide patient and family education to assist patient and family to understand role of palliative care in current health situation.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and health care needs if required.
  • Record physical findings, and formulate plan and prognosis, based on patient condition.
  • Coordinates care with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Discusses health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by Physician.
  • Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
  • Assists in development of protocols.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Graduate of an accredited masters of nursing program.
Meets the requirements determined by the State of Illinois to perform duties defined as those of a Nurse Practitioner.

Certification and Licensure

Hold valid RN license in state of practice.
Hold valid APNP license in state of practice.
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days (Other certification per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP)

Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.
Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercy's HR-01-Fleet Safety policy.
