Introduction

The Clerk of the Circuit Court is a constitutional officer, and the duties of this office are mandated by the Code of Virginia. The Clerk's Office provides multiple statutory and local services for residents, business professionals, legal professionals, judges, public safety officials, a variety of state and local government agencies, and the towns of Loudoun County. The Clerk of the Circuit Court serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal court cases. In this latter capacity, the Clerk creates and maintains all court files and records, prepares court orders and jury lists, contacts jurors and issues summons and court processes.


Job Summary

The Clerk of the Circuit Court with Loudoun County Government is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Clerk for the Recording Division. The successful candidate must have superior customer service, front counter, and phone skills.
Some of the duties and responsibilities performed by this position are as follows:

  • Reviewing and performing data entry to ensure accurate and quality information for various documents including, but not limited to deeds, judgements, financing statements, oaths, marriage licenses, issuing marriage licenses to qualified applicants in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines and the Code of Virginia
  • Ensuring all legal documents pertaining to orders, foreign judgments, IRS tax liens and Department of Taxation liens are in compliance with the Code of Virginia
  • Calculating and collecting taxes and fees while ensuring all legal documents contain relevant information required by the Code of Virgina for recordation
  • Reconciliation of cashier workstation to ensure the proper account of funds collected for recordation taxes and fees
  • Administering oaths
  • Completes other duties as assigned
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of administrative experience in court, government, or business environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. College degree in Business, Public Administration, or Paralegal field preferred. Experience in Circuit Court also preferred.
