Network Engineer

Job Duties
The network engineer's role is to manage and tune in house or hosted environment computer software systems and network connections to ensure stable operation and high levels of availability, and security of the supported business applications and infrastructure. This includes developing, supporting, maintaining, and optimizing key functional areas including network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications and telecommunications systems. The network engineer will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely fashion. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements as well as the working knowledge of the skills to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission cloud services.
Qualifications
  • Working in technical knowledge of in-house networks, pc, server and platform operating systems
  • Extensive application support experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards (firewalls, Active Directory, etc)
  • Strong System Administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command line level.
  • Experience running and maintaining scripting (PowerShell, Puppet, Chef)
  • Strong knowledge of network administration
  • Working technical knowledge of current telecom practices, protocols, and principles
  • Working technical knowledge of PBX, voicemail, interactive voice systems, call management systems, and telecom accounting systems
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of the installation, implementation, telecom equipment, video tele conference equipment, and voice data equipment.
  • Ability to make sound and logical judgements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel/project management skills.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
  • Experience with needs assessments and budgeting
  • Strong customer service skills
  • CCNA/CCNP certification

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
