Job Summary:

University Housing is seeking a skilled and creative Baker to join our Dining and Culinary Services team. This role is perfect for an individual who is passionate about baking and eager to contribute to a vibrant campus community. Starting wage is $22.50. Responsibilities:
Performs baking and related activities, following established baking procedures and best practices to create and serve high quality baked goods, according to quality and safety standards to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals.

  • 65% Prepares a variety of baked goods including yeast products
  • 5% Assists and guides student workers
  • 5% Assists with recipe and menu development and testing
  • 15% Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • 10% Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures


Tasks:

  • Prepares bakery and dessert items as ordered by food service units and catering, according to standardized recipes and prescribed pick-up times.
  • Communicate in English to managers and staff regarding malfunctions - potential or actual emergencies - of the equipment.
  • Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Perform duties in a high-volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment.
  • Demonstrate and role model exceptional customer service.
  • Interact with customers while displaying knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety.

Qualifications:

Required: 2 years of baking experience in a professional setting
Preferred: 1 year of cake decorating experience, completed 2-year Culinary or Pastry degree and 1 year or more of high volume baking experience


License/Certification:

Preferred
ServSafe Certification


Work Schedule:

Primary schedule for this position is:
Sunday - OFF
Monday - OFF
Tuesday - 6:00am - 2:30pm
Wednesday - 8:00am - 4:30pm
Thursday - 8:00am - 4:30pm
Friday - 6:00am - 2:30pm
Saturday - 8:00am - 4:30pm

Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This is a full-time appointment. The starting hourly wage is $22.50 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package. University Housing is also offering a $2,000 hiring bonus for this position!
