Salary/Compensation Statement:

  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $53,815 to $78,921.
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years' relevant experience.
  • Lane's robust Benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, basic term life insurance, long term disability, vacation leave, personal time and paid sick leave.
  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS


Required Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in any field.


OR
  • An equivalency of an associate's degree in any field with an additional two (2) years of equivalent professional and/or lived experience beyond the required two (2).
Required Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in case management, crisis intervention, employment services, recruitment, training programs, social work or related experience.
  • This position requires fluency in both English and Spanish.

Position Purpose:
The Bilingual Career Pathways (CP) Coach will recruit students and provide academic and supportive case management for participants in various programs, including PASS Lane (vocational training program focusing on English learners), Opening Doors (Immigrant Workforce Services), Career Pathway Certificates, and other short-term vocational programs. This position is expected to support any CP student but has a primary focus on serving first generation immigrants in the PASS Lane program, and those utilizing "Opening Doors" services. Responsibilities include detailed academic progress monitoring, advising, serving as a STEP Coach providing tailored case management services to SNAP recipients on a caseload. In addition, all CP Coaches assist with connecting the broader Lane Community College student population to basic needs resources and community services, through CARE drop-in hours. . The Career Pathways team prioritizes support for populations facing higher-barriers, such as SNAP recipients, vocational rehabilitation clients, GED students, English language learners, former foster youth, workforce clients, individuals with conviction histories, unhoused students, DACA students, and others facing obstacles to accessing education.
Essential Functions:
Outreach and Recruitment

  • Conduct extensive outreach (community-wide and college-wide) to connect with first-generation immigrants, English Language Learners, and others who may be interested in general Career Pathways programs and services.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations around PASS Lane, Opening Doors, and Career Pathways programs and services.
  • Facilitate and engage in event tabling events, class presentations, campus and program tours, and guest speaking engagements.
  • Use appropriate technology to create fliers, presentations, and other materials needed for outreach, and communication.



Academic and Supportive Case Management

  • Manage a caseload of students enrolled in PASS Lane programs, Opening Doors services, or other Career Pathways options.
  • Collaborate with faculty in the facilitation of cohort-based programs, providing holistic, timely support to students.
  • Support and mentor participants in developing, monitoring, and adjusting individual career & success plans.
  • Assist students in identifying and addressing barriers to education and employment opportunities.
  • Track and monitor participant progress utilizing a pro-active case management approach, intervening as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and current student case files & records by appropriately inputting student and participant data into multiple tracking systems including iMatch, EAB, departmental spreadsheets and others.
  • Provide regular input of participant contact, services provided, progress and outcomes into designated databases and spreadsheets.
  • Prepare required and regular reports on participant progress.

General

  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Agency Partnership and External Resource Navigation

  • Develop and maintain relationships among agencies that serve and support first-generation immigrants, English Language Learners or others who would benefit from Career Pathways programs and services.
  • Work with agency partners to learn about how to apply for auxiliary benefits such as housing, child care, health care, etc.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources for needs beyond the scope of the position, such as mental health services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all STEP and workforce or other partner agencies in an effort to provide shared case management and shared case notes.


Student Basic Needs Support (CARE Services)

  • During CARE drop-in shifts, assist students from the broader college population in applying for SNAP, OHP, child care, workforce/employment benefits and other resources.
  • Appropriately assess CARE service recipients for eligibility for other Career Pathways programs and/or community resources.


On-Campus and Team Participation

  • Maintain a healthy working relationship with faculty, staff and managers from various departments on campus, including: ESL, ABSE, ALS, Cooperative Education, Career and Technical Education, and Student Services.
  • Develop an understanding of on-campus services and refer students appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Career Pathways Team, sharing responsibilities and pursuing common goals.

Effective and Efficient Technology Use

  • Use technology efficiently to create fliers, presentations, and other materials needed for outreach, and communication.
  • Maintain current & accurate client files, records, and documentation through effective use of required spreadsheets, case management software and student/client databases.
  • Manage digital meetings and workshops through Zoom or other forms of virtual connections.
  • Assist students in the navigation of online and virtual resources.
  • Complete regular and timely digital training.

Supervision Statement:

  • This position may have the responsibility to assign tasks, provide priorities, train and monitor the work of student advisors, office support staff, student assistants and volunteers.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
