PURPOSE: This position is responsible for the cleanliness and efficient set-up and breakdown of event spaces for variety of meetings, banquets and small-scale events at Mall of America. Main duties include set-up, cleaning and maintaining banquet functions on a daily basis following the standards of service set by management. This position will also assist in the Waste + Recycling Center separating and transporting recyclable, waste, cardboard and maintaining cleanliness of MOA sublevel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:



  • Set event rooms per specifications on room layout or as given by group sales, while maintaining quality room presentation.
  • Tear-down and reset event space in preparation for next event.
  • Clean event rooms including, but is not limited to, clearing the dirty dishes and glassware from the tables, straightening the chairs, changing soiled table linen, vacuuming the floor and emptying trash.
  • Keep service corridors, pre-function space and storage areas clean, organized and unobstructed.
  • Ensure proper care, movement, storage of all equipment such as tables, chairs, sign holders, easels, room supplies, etc.
  • Complete a quarterly inventory of equipment (tables/chairs).
  • Clean, check, and perform simple maintenance on equipment regularly. Bringing broken equipment to maintenance in a timely manner for repair.
  • Ability to understand simple verbal and/or written instructions as well as follow room layouts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors within event rooms by using equipment to buff/shine, extract carpet, etc.
  • Deep cleaning of events space, including wash walls, pillars, glass/windows, baseboards, ledges, bathrooms, etc as needed.
  • Separate the waste from the recyclables


  • Transport wheeled trash barrels by hand or with powered industrial vehicle from recycling rooms to loading dock areas


  • Empty trash and cardboard containers into compactors and operate compactors


  • Sweep and operate power scrubber to clean service corridor floors
  • Sweep and mop waste room floors


  • Ensure the overall safety of the immediate work area as well as surrounding areas


  • Ability to work variable and/or rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Additional duties as assigned.



PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEFE AND ABILITIES:



  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous event or banquet set up experience preferred
  • Experience reading banquet or event set up diagrams or blueprints and room layouts
  • Previous housekeeping or recycling center experience, preferred .
  • Working knowledge of the safe handling of equipment and materials used in custodial duties and event set up.
  • Experience safely operating a variety of power equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks involved in lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping and other set up and cleaning l duties.
  • Ability to work variable and/or rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work as independently or as part of a team.

  • Handle larger items such as tables, carts, staging, etc. - Frequently 90% of time


Starting Pay:

$18
