Position: Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Wayne, PA (100% Telecommuting Permitted)

Description of work to be performed:

Perform operating systems installations, patching, and upgrades as requested. Monitor performance of systems and actively maintain operating systems and associated software and hardware platforms. Participate in the triage of performance, software, and hardware problems to resolution. Participate in DR exercises as required. Monitor incident/request queue and take action as appropriate. Monitor backups as required and take appropriate corrective action as failures occur. Manage server storage and create/de-commission disk logical units as requested. Proactively create and maintain scripts to enhance the performance and integrity of the operating system and associated software products. Maintain a proactive understanding of the most recent releases of the operating system and associated software/firmware and recommend upgrades as appropriate. Participate in planning for future installations and may coordinate efforts with other team members. Install, maintain, configure, and update O/S and O/S-related software. Monitor and respond to incident/request tickets, enters Change Management records, and follow the predictive course of action relating to those activities. Plan and schedule software and firmware upgrades with supporting documentation. Provide off-hours support for triage and break-fix scenarios. Log failure calls with appropriate vendors and coordinates repair. Monitor systems performance and error logging and take appropriate action when problems occur. Proactively create scripts to enhance performance and notification of events. Telecommuting: 100% telecommuting permitted. <10% Domestic only, 1-2 times per year totaling 5-10 days. Nature/purpose is for in-person team collaboration and in-person training.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Information Technology or a related field and 8 years of progressively responsible post-bachelor's degree related experience. The position also requires 6 years of experience monitoring and responding to incident/request tickets, entering Change Management records, and following predictive courses of action relating to those activities; 4 years of experience working on project teams and participating in DR exercises; 6 years of experience creating scripts to enhance performance and notification of events; 4 years of experience providing off-hours support for triage and break-fix scenarios, logging failure calls with appropriate vendors and coordinating repair; 6 years of experience monitoring systems performance and error logging and taking appropriate action when problems occur.

In the alternative, the position requires master's degree in information technology or a related field and 6 years of related experience and 6 years of related experience. The position also requires 6 years of experience monitoring and responding to incident/request tickets, entering Change Management records, and following predictive courses of action relating to those activities; 4 years of experience working on project teams and participating in DR exercises; 6 years of experience creating scripts to enhance performance and notification of events; 4 years of experience providing off-hours support for triage and break-fix scenarios, logging failure calls with appropriate vendors and coordinating repair; 6 years of experience monitoring systems performance and error logging and taking appropriate action when problems occur.
