Assessment Analyst
Job Summary Under the general direction of the Assessment Manager in the School of Pharmacy Dean's Office, this Assessment Analyst collaborates in the development and implementation of meaningful, sustainable assessment studies to support PharmD student success and program excellence. Key areas of focus include evaluating longitudinal learning outcomes, conducting student survey studies, and performing in-depth student success analyses.
Responsibilities: Assessment and Evaluation: Collaborate on the design and execution of assessment studies to inform data-driven improvements. Provide expertise in program evaluation, analytics, and tools design to support education-related committees.
Data Management and Analysis: Oversee data collection processes, ensuring alignment and quality assurance to maintain robust and reliable datasets. Independently analyze data, interpret results, and work closely with stakeholders to develop actionable recommendations that inform policy development and strategic decision-making.
Program Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PharmD program, including admissions, student learning, teaching, curriculum design, and student career placement by integrating data-driven insights and evidence-based practices.
Dashboard and Visualization Development: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive data dashboards and reports using effective visualization strategies. Utilize tools such as Excel (Visual Basic, Power Query), Tableau, Power BI, and statistical software like SPSS or SAS. Optionally, leverage advanced programming and data analysis tools, including R, Python, and SQL, to create interactive and customized dashboards tailored to stakeholder needs.
Training and Capacity Building: Work closely with faculty and staff to design, compile, and enhance Pharmacy education assessment resources to strengthen institutional capacity for effective assessment and evaluation practices.
The candidate should have demonstrated experience working on assessment of student learning and/or program evaluation and the ability to effectively run descriptive and inferential statistics using statistical software packages. PhD in Social Science, Education or equivalent field is preferred, but we will consider candidates who are in ABD status (All-But-Dissertation).
***NOTE: This position is expected to work in a hybrid work arrangement, with a minimum of two days onsite. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $160,500 (Annual Rate). Department Description The UCSF School of Pharmacy (SOP) offers a leading Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. UCSF faculty members are known nationally and internationally as leaders in pharmacy professional education and research.
This position / Assessment Unit is part of the Dean's Office. The Dean's Office functions as control point for the School of Pharmacy as well as serves to provide functional units in supporting our Pharm D education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience.
- Knowledge in social science and educational research design.
- Demonstrated experience working on assessment of student learning and/or program evaluation.
- Ability to align and consolidate data using Excel and other advanced tools.
- Ability to effectively run descriptive and inferential statistics using statistical software packages.
- Ability to apply data visualization techniques to present findings clearly and effectively.
- Solid active listening, critical thinking, good interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task.
- Solid ability to present information in a clear concise manner verbally and in writing.
- Able to provide good judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Ph.D in Social Science, Education or equivalent field.
- One year of teaching experience in K-12 or higher education.
- Two+ year of experience implementing assessment or program evaluation projects.
- Willingness to learn various organization-specific computer application programs (e.g., Tableau, query tools, relational databases).
