MaineHealth Behavioral Health is currently seeking a Nurse Manager on the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at MidCoast Hospital. The nurse manager has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for nursing care delivered to patients as well as supervision of the completemultidisciplinary team.The interdisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, social workers, rehabilitation services.

The Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit consist of 13beds. This is a locked unit which provides a 24-hour treatment program designed to treat individuals experiencing major mental illnesses and addiction related problems. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care. Our team of mental health professionals plan and work together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth.

This is a full time, day shift position.

Summary:

The Nurse Manager assists the Director in the coordination, supervision, and management of all personnel and patient care activities of the unit and in the successful operation of the hospital and network at large.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. RNC preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Licensed as a registered professional nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of psychiatric nursing or comparable experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills.
  • Demonstrate expertise in clinical practice and judgment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
