TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE -

GENERAL INDUSTRIAL (US SOUTHEAST REGION)

The Technical Sales Representative - General Industrial is responsible for representing the company in its effort in obtaining new business, maintaining current business, and providing technical support.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prospect, sell and service industrial paint coatings.
  • Recognize sales opportunities when providing service work and conversely recognize opportunities for technical support when prospecting customers.
  • Provide technical education and solutions in the field to customers regarding all aspects of company products.
  • Provide account maintenance for current customers including contract negotiations.
  • Forecast sales and price adjustments.
  • Work with the development team to ensure technical skills are current with regards to existing products and future products in consideration.
  • Report all initiatives to supervisor and provide status updates on a regular basis.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education level preferred: bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university. Degree is preferred to be in a Science related field such as Chemistry or Business.
  • Experience level preferred: At least three years of technical sales experience in a chemical coatings' environment.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook), Concur, ERP system, and other office machinery.
  • Leadership capabilities with the ability to lead by example.
  • Exemplify core values, i.e., Integrity, Loyalty, Passion, Commitment, and Respect.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent team building and communications skills.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel over 50% of the time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand, and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
