Job Summary

Barrett Paving Materials MWC is looking for a skilled and dedicated General Construction Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy machinery and equipment used in various construction projects, including paving, excavation, and site preparation. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, the ability to work collaboratively, and a passion for delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and rollers, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Assist in the preparation and layout of construction sites, including grading and excavation activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and laborers to complete tasks according to project specifications and timelines.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage, project progress, and any issues encountered on-site.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of equipment operation and safety practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and address any concern
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; certification in heavy equipment operation is a plus.
  • Proven experience operating heavy machinery in a construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Valid driver's license; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
