Senior Civil Engineer (Transportation)

This position is in the field of civil engineering with an emphasis on concrete metallurgy, welding, and other related structural fabrication processes. In this position, you will enforce the requirements of contracts, special provisions, and applicable specifications in the fabrication of simple and complex civil engineering structures. You will also review shop fabrication practices, including Concrete procedures and welding procedures, non-destructive testing, surface preparation and painting, bolting and partial assembly of various structures; monitor performance of contracted shop inspectors while fabrication is in progress to ensure conformance to contract requirements; and provide assistance to the Districts in resolving issues related to problems with welding and associated fabrication. Additionally, you will coordinate, distribute, and process revisions to the specifications related to structural steel and aluminum fabrication and coating.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
• This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
