Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) Develops and implements policies, programs and practices to ensure that the organization complies with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards concerning the environment and health and safety of the workforce and surrounding community. Responsible for planning and directing all engineering activities to diagnose and rectify environmental problems involving the organization, its employees, and the public. Responsible for devising Calpine's Power Operations and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) continuous learning strategy, developing Calpine's Power Operations technician qualification program, overseeing program implementation, and assessing outcomes that drive business performance results. Manage Environmental Health and Safety function with an operational focus. Manages activities of broad functional area through first level management and professionals, including full human resources, cost and budgetary accountability. The Director of EHS may also supplement other Power Operations and EHS program activities that enhance our strategy. The ideal candidate has experience working in the energy sector/utilities/power plant operations, with strengths in instructional design based on adult learning theories, employee qualification program development, and proven ability to build strategic partnerships with subject matter experts to create technical programs, learning management system administrative experience, and strategic meetings/workshop facilitation experience.
