Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented VDC Intern to join our dedicated team at our site located near our headquarters in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

In this role, you will be assigned to the VDC team and will assist in scanning, coordination, and different VDC technologies. This position will rotate through all VDC roles and responsibilities while training and learning before moving into a specified VDC group.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work on complex assignments independently, with attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.
  • Work with standards and SOPs to learn IPS best practices.
  • Review coordination between the design and construction documents for as-built conditions.
  • Responsible for individual quality control and timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Coordination, scanning, and VDC PM support.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Associate/Technical degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • No experience is required.
  • Willingness to learn new software and develop standards
  • Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and installations.
  • Has knowledge of and/or takes initiative to learn modeling software; including but not limited to: Navisworks, Revit, SketchUp, and AutoCAD.
  • Must have great organizational skills (juggling multiple jobs and files from multiple vendors) to be able to meet project deadlines.
  • Customer service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with individuals (co-workers, clients, vendors) at all levels.
  • Able to deal with and resolve conflicts between contractors, clients, and the design team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of Navisworks Manage, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of ACC and other Autodesk products.

Context, Environment, & Safety

  • Travel based on project location but willingness to travel 5-20% of the time to various job locations is necessary.
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other "non-administrative" areas.
