What You'll Do in This Position

SRNS is seeking to hire an experienced engineer in the Engineering Business and Programs organization. This position will provide program related support to Engineering organizations by developing and maintaining Engineering procedures, guides, webpages, and other tools instrumental in performing engineering activities, as well as acting as a resource for programmatic inquiries. Manual E7 contains the Engineering procedures for the design of new configuration-controlled structures, systems, and components (including process software), conducting modifications to existing configuration controlled SSCs, and for providing engineering support to SRS facilities.
The selected candidate will perform the following tasks relative to programmatic activities:
*Perform E7 Training:
-Revise training materials as necessary;
-Distribute Read & Signs for E7 procedure revisions
*Maintaining E7 procedures:
-Initiating procedure revisions;
-Resolving comments on procedure revisions
-Coordinating procedure revisions with SmartPlant Foundation business objects and OSR forms;
-Communicating procedure revisions to end users
*Maintaining Engineering Guide documents:
-Revising/Updating Engineering Guides;
-Communicating updates to end users;
-Collecting feedback from end users for process improvement
*Support Functional Area FA01 Design and
FA09 Configuration Management:
-Provide input to Annual Self-Assessment Plan for FA01/09
-Perform self-assessments.
-Developing and maintaining assessment metrics for FA01/09
-Assessing programs and processes within FA01 and controlled by Engineering Programs for compliance and process improvement
*Suspect/Counterfeit Item Program Support:
-Investigating potential S/CI;
-Maintaining the S/CI Log;
-Providing updates to the Controlled Products List, as needed.
-Maintaining the S/CI procedure
Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are stated.
Define specific problems based on general problem information from management and customers.
Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments, and sections in focus areas to solve problems.
Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilization and training of personnel on changes to Conduct of Engineering program.
Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, and management.

Assist in teaching newer professionals and guiding their efforts.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Bachelor degree in applicable science or engineering discipline

Other Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required

Qualifications We Desire

Previous experience with Self-Assessment, Causal Analysis, STAR and APS applications.
Working knowledge of Manual E7 processes.
Previous SRNS experience, preferred.
Knowledge of DOE orders, National Codes and Standards, OSHA regulations, and Configuration Management.
