Position Summary:
A company from Japan specializing in the manufacturing and sales of high-quality glasswork crafts and licensed character merchandise is launching the U.S. business and looking for a founding member of the team.
This is a unique opportunity to build a new business from the ground up, cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth across both B2B channels. This role will focus on identifying, qualifying, and securing contracts with manufacturers and retailers for the use of licensor's intellectual property (IP) the company owns as well as glasswork craft techniques on a wide range of consumer products.
They are looking for a candidate who is passionate about bringing the best of Japanese content and craft to the American market with excellent sales acumen and a proven track record of exceeding targets.
You will receive comprehensive training at our company's headquarters in Japan (1-3 months).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not are limited to:
As a founding member of our US team, the Sales Representative (New Business Development) will play a crucial role in establishing and growing our business in the American market. This exciting opportunity offers a wide range of responsibilities and the chance to directly contribute to our success. Key responsibilities include:
* Prospecting & Lead Generation: Identify, research, and qualify potential licensees, business customers and partners within target consumer goods categories (e.g., apparel, home goods, toys, food & beverage). Develop and execute strategic outreach plans to generate qualified leads through various channels, including trade shows, direct sales, and innovative approaches..
* Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at prospective companies and partner organizations, including purchasing managers, product development teams, marketing executives, and relevant stakeholders.
* Sales & Business Development: Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations showcasing the value proposition of the company's licensor's IP and its suitability for various product categories.
* Contract Negotiation: Develop and negotiate agreements, ensuring alignment with company objectives and financial targets.
* Market Analysis & Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, customer needs, and opportunities for new licensing partnerships and product development. Stay up-to-date on industry news and best practices. Analyze the American market to inform product development and effective sales strategies.
* Account Management: Manage existing customer relationships, providing ongoing support and identifying opportunities for growth and expansion.
* Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide regular reports on sales activity, pipeline development, and deal closures.
* Trade Show Participation: Attend relevant industry trade shows and events to network with potential licensees, promote the licensor's IP and craft technique, and identify new business opportunities.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the global team in Japan, including creative, product development, marketing, and legal, to ensure successful execution of business development initiatives. Contribute to the overall success of the US office by handling various tasks related to launching and growing new business.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
* Training: Able to attend the onsite training for 1-3 months at the company's headquarters in Japan
* Genuine interest in Japanese culture and content
* Previous experience in B2B sales, preferably within the licensing, consumer goods, or entertainment industries.
* Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building strong client relationships.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in both English and Japanese (conversational) is essential.
* Strong understanding of licensing principles, contract negotiation, and intellectual property rights not required but preferred.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
