Base Compensation Range: $22/hr - $24/hr

This position supports our Agena Bioscience business. Agena Bioscience empowers research laboratories worldwide to deliver scalable targeted genomic data. Our open, advanced platform, the MassARRAY System, provides researchers with insights through a highly multiplexed solution in the areas of mutation profiling, liquid biopsy, pharmacogenetics, and more.

Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for advanced material handling tasks within the warehouse or production environment. Manages the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and products, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to safety standards. The Material Handler will work with minimal supervision, mentor junior staff, and contribute to optimizing workflow processes.

Duties/Responsibilities

Material Handling and Movement:

* Efficiently load and unload materials from trucks, containers, and storage locations using manual and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).

* Move materials to designated areas within the warehouse or production floor, ensuring proper handling, placement, and organization.

* Perform specialized handling of hazardous or sensitive materials in compliance with safety protocols.

Inventory Management:

* Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.

* Utilize inventory management software and systems to track materials and report discrepancies.

* Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and documented in accordance with company policies.

Quality Control and Inspection:

* Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for quality, damage, or defects, and report findings to the Warehouse Supervisor.

* Assist in preparing materials for shipment, including packing, labeling, and ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.

* Implement quality control measures to minimize errors and improve operational efficiency.

Safety and Compliance:

* Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while handling materials and operating equipment.

* Conduct safety audits and assist in training team members on safe material handling practices.

* Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly and participate in safety improvement initiatives.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

* Mentor and train junior Material Handler I staff on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment operation.

* Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure seamless operations and address any issues.

* Act as a point of contact for questions or concerns regarding material handling processes.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

* Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, following all company procedures.

* Perform routine maintenance checks and troubleshooting on equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the Warehouse Supervisor.

* Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and equipment areas.

Education/Experience

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in a warehouse or material handling role.

Knowledge and Skillsets Required

* Ability to operate material handling equipment (certification may be required).

* Proficient in basic math and computer skills for inventory management and record-keeping.

* Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Demands

* Standing or walking: Extended periods standing or walking throughout the warehouse.

* Using computers: Typing and using the computer.

* Manual dexterity: Handling various operating equipment.

* Bending and reaching: Frequently reaching overhead, bending, picking up or moving items.

* Lifting: Occasionally lifting and carrying 25 to 75 pounds.

* Climbing: May need to climb ladders or use elevated platforms to access high storage areas.

Environmental Conditions

* Workspace: Work environment temperature may vary depending on warehouse.

* Noise Levels: Noisy environments due to machinery and equipment.

* Dust and Dire: Exposure to dust, dirt, and airborne particles.

* Safety: Potential exposure to hazardous materials or unsafe conditions. Must adhere to safety standards.
