We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Project Specialist I on our Center for Health Equity team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As a Project Specialist I, you will work closely with the Health Equity Program Director for Strategy and
Development, this role will provide project coordination around the design and
operational implementation of high-impact initiatives focused on health equity
strategy and alliances. This role works closely with team members to help
manage the coordination of work focused on planning effective action across the
enterprise and with external partners to promote social justice and equity in
health and incorporating equity into the operational processes.

The Project Specialist for Strategy and Development will work closely with team members to help manage the coordination of work focused on three key initiatives in the building alliances and sharing power portfolio, which include, but not limited to: West Side United; Marginalized, minoritized physician groups; and Medical Justice in Advocacy Fellowship program

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Coordination & Management
  • Create detailed schedules, properly sequencing activities, and resources to meet required deadlines
  • Coordinate assignments/milestones and execute in accordance with approved plans
  • Ensure deliverables are on-time, within budget, and meet quality expectations
  • Identify, escalate and issues/risks that need to be mitigated and take corrective action as needed
  • Identify and pre-empt barriers to a project's successful execution, coordinate and communicate activities with other business units across the AMA, and external collaborators, as applicable
  • Complete project/program components/tasks using critical race theory and health equity lens
Administrative Tasks
  • Support and attend meetings with the Health Equity Program Director, Strategy & Development to track follow-ups and next steps
  • Plan and coordinate meetings, secure meeting dates, secure space and arrange accommodations.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and background materials, produce minutes and reports after meetings, and provide on-site assistance during meetings
  • Update and enter data into the salesforce and Asana databases
  • Liaison and coordinate with operations team on vendor contracts and vendor payments
  • Work with strategy and development team to coordinate around vendor and consultant contract monitoring, program budgets and efficient handling of meeting scheduling, Director's schedule, and communications
  • Create supporting documents including presentations decks, memos etc.
  • Support the Center in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with external organizations

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelors degree required
  2. 1+ years' experience in a program/project management role or relevant field; PMP certificate a plus experience in health equity a plus
  3. Demonstrated understanding of equity, critical race theory required
  4. Experience with Asana and Salesforce a plus
  5. Demonstrated experience creating reports using PowerPoint presentations and written briefs
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of management and outside business partners
  7. Proven track record of managing multiple projects at once
  8. Demonstrated budgeting and resource planning skills required
  9. Analytical, critical thinking, skills a plus
  10. Some travel required

The salary range for this position is $56,100 - $74,460. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
