Job Summary

The WolfsonianFIU is hiring a paid Curatorial and Exhibitions Intern for Summer 2025 as part of its Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)-supported initiative to open pathways to museum careers.

The Curatorial and Exhibitions Intern at The WolfsonianFIU will play a role in supporting various aspects of exhibition development, with an emphasis on curatorial work. This internship offers an opportunity for hands-on training in the museum profession, provides an overview of museum exhibition operations, and an introduction to the work that curators conduct in developing an exhibition. Tasks include updating exhibition checklists, conducting research to support exhibition development, preparing materials from past exhibitions for the museums website, and support other functions related to curatorial and exhibition work.

The Exhibitions and Curatorial Intern will:

  • Gain an understanding of museum exhibition development and curatorial work.
  • Engage in the inner workings of museum operations.
  • Have access to Wolfsonian student enrichment activities such as career roundtables, a resume/cover letter writing workshop, and beyond.

This internship is held in person at 1001 Washington Ave, Miami Beach 33139.

The largest of FIUs three museums, The Wolfsonian is an art and design research center in South Beach with a collection of more than 200,000 items from the modern age (18501950).

  • Interest in history and/or museum collections
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Special attention to detail
  • Possess a high sense of responsibility and care for the museum objects
  • Ability to take direction and work independently as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing

  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suites

Student Disclosure

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule

This is a 12-week, one-semester internship in Summer 2025.

  • -The internship requires a commitment of 240 hours over the 12-week internship period (20 hours a week).
  • -Weekly schedules are flexible but must coincide with Registration staffs regular office hours (MF, 9am5pm) and hours must be spread evenly across the internships 12-week duration.

$20.00/hour
