Overview

The Security Engineer is responsible for contributing to security-related development projects advising R&D staff on secure coding practices and acting as a security subject matter expert.



What you will be doing

    Design the way multiple, complex static-analysis and dynamic-analysis tests are run, monitor the tests for errors when they are run, and educate developers on the flaws uncovered
  • Conduct the most complex threat modeling; provide oversight to validate that threats are identified; provide recommendations to mitigate threats that are identified
  • Conduct secure code reviews to determine the most complex security flaws in the software, and communicate the risks of those flaws to the development and leadership teams.
  • Research new attack vectors and stay current with cybersecurity news and trends
  • Conduct multiple, complex security assessments, which use threat modeling and static analysis, to help determine the overall security posture of the software
  • Develop security-related consumable code to be used across the team to mitigate complex security flaws in the software
  • Create and conduct security training on the most complex topics for internal customers
  • Generate complex reports and tests to determine that the company's applications are in compliance with industry and customer regulations, and communicate the results to leadership
  • Lead customer calls, RFPs, or other outside assistance requests, and negotiate contracts.
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to potential customers; develop and maintain strategic working relationships
  • Operate as a trusted advisor on security-related issues and trends; provide general consulting services leveraging expertise and significant knowledge of software security best practices
  • Operate as an innovative thought leader; contribute significantly to the overall growth and quality of the department through knowledge sharing and coaching on current best practices and market trends
  • Mentor, coach, train, and provide feedback to other team members; provide feedback to leadership on abilities of team
  • Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Hyland's Information Systems Security Policy


What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Expertise as a security engineer and/or software developer
  • Expertise in at least one security-related knowledge domain (e.g. cryptography, network security, exploit development, web security, etc.) and working knowledge of several others
  • CISSP, CSSLP, or similar security-related certification
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact
  • Excellent collaboration skills, applied successfully within team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent ability to establish rapport and gain the trust of others; effective at gaining consensus
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate and mobilize team members and business partners
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to coach, mentor and provide feedback to team members in a timely manner
  • Excellent knowledge of enterprise design patterns, core security concepts and security design principles
  • Excellent knowledge of object oriented programming and concepts
  • Up to 10% travel time required

Based on individual states' employment laws, the following details are to comply with the relevant salary posting requirements: base salary range of $132,000-165,000 and eligible for benefits
