Role Description

The Program Accountant plays a key role in ensuring that daily tasks in Program Accounting are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This role is responsible for processing claim adjustments, reconciling escrow accounts, and preparing journal entries. Additionally, the Program Accountant collaborates with internal teams and external partners to resolve discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform reconciliation of complex program accounts.
  • Research discrepancies in claim payments and take necessary actions for resolution.
  • Set up and verify banking for escrow accounts as needed.
  • Partner with Claims Analysts to gather approvals for large funding requests.
  • Work closely with third-party administrators (TPAs) to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Support internal departments such as Claims and Client Engagement.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for at-risk accounts.
  • Provide backup support for Program Accountants and Cash Accountants as needed.
  • Participate in various projects throughout the year.


Qualifications

Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, or Accounting (a four-year degree in Accounting is preferred).
  • Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.


Required Skills and Experience:



  • Strong critical thinking skills with a desire to innovate and improve processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong reconciliation skills for both banking and general ledger accounts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with customer service experience.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.


    Preferred Experience:



    • Experience in insurance.
    • Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Claim Center, and ImageNow is a plus.

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
