This position is with our Railroad company, Ellis & Eastern.

Role Overview:

Operates diesel-electric locomotive, interpreting train orders, train signals, and railroad rules and regulations, to transport freight. Receives starting signal from brakeman and moves controls, such as throttle and airbrakes, to operate locomotive. Interprets train orders, train signals and railroad rules and regulations to operate locomotive, following safety regulations and time schedule. Loads and unloads freight cars.

To be successful in this role, you will have:



  1. One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training
  2. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Certificate of Qualified Locomotive Engineer for Train Service Engineer required. Current certification is preferred, but expired certification is acceptable if issued within the past eight (8) years.


Typical hours during our Production season are M-F 6am-4pm. Typical hours during Maintenance season are M-F 6am-3pm.
