The University of Texas at Austin's High School (UTHS) Special Purpose District provides programs and services to help high school students, teachers and families across Texas and the world. UTHS strives to help and assist students as they move along their educational pathways. Purpose

The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead and manage UTHS's communication and marketing efforts to ensure alignment with its mission, vision, and strategic plan. The Manager is responsible for shaping the school's public image (websites, flyers, one-pagers...), driving student enrollments, and fostering engagement and interaction with key stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, administration, donors, and the broader community. The Manager will create and implement strategic communication plans, oversee public relations activities, and operate and lead marketing campaigns designed to enhance the school's reputation, visibility and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning:Create and execute a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy/planning to promote student enrollment, retention, and community engagement. Ensuring the communication is aligned to the strategic plans of the school. Set goals, track performance metrics, and adjust strategies to maximize impact.
  • Brand Management:Work with UTHS administration to maintain and enhance the school's brand as part of The University of Texas at Austin's College of Education across all platforms (digital, print, social media, presentations). Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and visuals that align with the school's and the University's identity and goals.
  • Digital Marketing & Content Creation:Working with UTHS administration, head efforts to produce engaging and informative content for the school's website, social media channels, digital, newsletters, and digital advertising. Manage the content and presentation on the school's website. Ensure all UTHS programs are addressed, marketed and enhanced.
  • Internal & External Communications:Help to oversee and coordinate all internal communications in the form of district level newsletters and stories about the schools, as well as external communications (to the community, prospective/current families, and alumni) like the school's annual reports.
  • Event Promotion:Develop and manage communication strategies for key school events, fundraisers, and initiatives, ensuring high visibility and engagement from target audiences. Support conference presentations, booth and marketing presence.
  • Community Outreach & Partnerships:Foster relationships with community organizations, businesses, and alumni to support marketing and communication initiatives. Collaborate with the development to align efforts on fundraising and recruitment.
  • Market Research & Analysis:Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive positioning, and new opportunities for outreach. Use data to inform decision-making and measure the success of communication strategies.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:Lead and supervise any communications staff or external staff (COE staff) involved in content creation, graphic design, and web development. Collaborate closely with school leadership and other departments to ensure a cohesive communication strategy.
  • Support Development and Fundraising: Provide support to UTHS and the development director by assisting in the planning, fundraising activities, and grant writing. Assist with fundraising activities for UTHS and its organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of experiencein marketing and communications with increasing levels of responsibility and activity
  • Ability to develop original messaging that advances UTHS, its vision, goals and impact.
  • Ability to present and interact to and with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Commitment to student success
  • Energetic, positive, and self-motivated
  • Excellent command of English language and grammar, both verbal and written
  • Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Office, graphic design, photo editing, and social media development a plus.
  • Proficient in social media platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to pay close attention to deadlines and detail
  • Ability to work individually and very collaboratively
  • Experience providing day-to-day support to team members

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or post-graduate training in relevant field(s)
  • Degree specialization in an academic field relevant to education, public service (public policy, education, human development, educational leadership, etc...)
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Marketing and communications experience in the educational arenas
Salary Range

$70,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Typical office environment. Onsite work is the general expectation.

  • Work hours may include occasional evenings, weekends and some holidays during peak periods to meet deadlines.

  • Some travel is required for conferences, retreats, student engagement, testing and marketing opportunities (Approx. 10%)
