TITLE

Aeronautical Science Academic Advisor / Recruiter

JOB SUMMARY

The Aeronautical Science Academic Advisor and Recruiter will provide academic advising, retention and recruiting support for all programming in the Doswell School of Aeronautical Sciences (DSAS). This position will promote student persistence and retention leading to the goal of student success and degree completion. The DSAS Advisor and Recruiter will monitor, track, and measure the retention of students through metrics such as continued enrollment, completed credit hours, completed flight certificates and rating, and academic standing. They will be responsible for all DSAS students and will implement proactive advising and support strategies that include first generation, transfer, Pell eligible, DACA, internal and external scholarship recipients, and all other student populations. Additionally, the position will participate in creating recruiting strategies to meet DSAS targets for enrollment and degree completion. The Advisor and Recruiter will assist in managing recruiting efforts participating as part of the team in recruitment events and initiatives throughout the state and region.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Director, Doswell School of Aeronautical Sciences

Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

* Works with the Doswell team to ensure students are progressing toward academic degree completion and 14CFR * 141 flight program requirements.

* Monitors and tracks the retention, progression and graduation of students within

assigned cohorts.

* Analyzes and processes degree audits, change of major, and other required academic

forms.

* Assists students in understanding university and state rules for college readiness,

course repetition, credit limits, course transfer and all degree related guidelines.

* Uses computer software and university data systems to maintain records and document

advising interactions (TSI compliance, Student Planning, Colleague, etc.).

* Connects students to relevant on-campus and off-campus resources.

* Identifies and advises students who are not reaching degree program, academic

and flight training milestones as defined by university policies and academic program requirements.

* Prepares reports on student progress and works with DSAS team to identify and address student barriers for success.

* Assists with developing strategic yearly recruiting plan and participates with team in attending events.

* Develops and maintains relationships with high schools, community colleges and other community programs which impact recruitment.

* Attends meetings/workshops/training to keep abreast of university and function changes.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

* Represents DSAS at university new student and transfer student orientation programs, as well as recruiting events.

* Establishes and maintains contact with university departments.

* Promotes positive working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.

* Participates in professional development and trainings.

* Supports advising initiatives as directed by the Pioneer Center for Student Excellence.

* Travel is required.

* Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of higher education academic advising experience. Any experience in recruiting and aviation is highly desirable. Additional job-related experience/and/or education may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

REQUIREMENTS

Valid Texas driver's licenses and a safe driving record such as required by the university for Driver's Authorization. A good driving record is required, as this candidate will occasionally travel to recruit students from Texas high schools and community colleges.

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. Note: This is NOT a remote work position.
