Overview

The Tech Support Chemist is a dynamic role at the Waters Taunton Manufacturing Site where you will gain hands-on experience troubleshooting and supporting the manufacture of new and existing chromatographic products. Working alongside experienced members of the Tech Support team, you will learn the chemistry and processes behind existing products and processes, plan and run experiments, and troubleshoot existing processes both in the plant and in the lab. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chemist who is eager to learn, grow, and make a positive impact on the company.



Responsibilities

    Technology Transfer: Assist the R&D and Tech Support teams in the transfer of new chromatographic products into production. Execute experiments to assess process robustness and repeatability, submit samples for analysis, gather data, and support scale-up studies under the guidance of senior team members.
  1. Process Improvement: Perform well-defined experiments and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve existing manufacturing processes.
  2. Production Troubleshooting: Work with Production to help troubleshoot daily challenges including issues related to chemistry, equipment, & existing infrastructure.
  3. Hands-on Manufacturing: Assist in the direct manufacture of reagents, standards, and other products using established glassware techniques and procedures.
  4. Quality and Continuous Improvement: Support the Quality Assurance team by helping to investigate and to resolve quality and customer issues. Participate in root-cause analysis events to prevent recurring challenges.
  5. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Assist Engineering, Production, and other departments with the implementation of new equipment and the improvement of existing equipment. Collect and analyze data to drive continuous improvements.


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related discipline, and some experience working with chemicals in a laboratory environment.
  2. 1 - 3 years of experience in an industrial, laboratory, and/or academic research environment.
  3. Demonstrated familiarity with operating small-scale glassware reactions and basic laboratory techniques.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities with a high level of organizational skill.
  7. Familiarity and adherence with chemical and laboratory safety.
