Main Duties & Responsibilities
Summary/Objective:
The Chemist II is responsible for the Wastewater Treatment System Operation and
management of hazardous wastes and supervises the Hazardous Waste Technician.
Also
responsible to oversee and maintain proper chemical condition and conformities
to the specifications of all Monogram's wet process baths, by collecting
samples and performing daily routine solution analysis of each sample.

Coordinate with the Plating Manager on delegation of tasks that can be
performed by either the Plating Technician or the Hazardous Waste Technician.
Primary Operator of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment System.
Ensure quarterly sampling for Self-Monitoring Report (SMR) is performed and SMR
is submitted to the LACSD on a timely basis.
Ensure the Surcharge Report is completed and submitted to the LACSD on a timely
basis
Ensure all containerized wastes are properly marked and labeled.
Ensure all containerized wastes are transported and disposed on a timely basis
Primary responsibility for scheduling and coordinating shipments of hazardous
waste with the hazardous waste contractor.
Primary signer on Hazardous Waste Manifests.
Ensure adequate supply of all chemicals required for wastewater treatment.
Ensure adequate supply of all materials required for management of hazardous
waste.
Monitor Cyanide-containing Plating processes in accordance with ENV-103.
Maintain all records associated with operation of the Industrial Wastewater
Treatment System.
Annual review and update of Waste Analysis Plan and Waste Profiles.
Ensure the four required sampling events for Storm Water are performed and
analytical results uploaded to SMARTS database.
Spill Response Team Member
Execute Laboratory Testing Procedures per schedule and as needed.
Keep detailed, organized records and complete required documentation for the
associated tests in compliance with internal Manufacturing Process
Specifications Documents (PS) and NADCAP accreditation requirements.
Select and prepare/calibrate appropriate lab equipment and/or instrumentation.
Coordinate with the calibration department compliance with calibration due
dates for probes at the processes line, DI water system, and waste water
treatment processes.
Prepare testing reagents (standards, etc.) as needed for the chemical lab,
material test lab, and plating department.
Oversee that all required third party periodical testing are performed on
schedule and the results are documented and maintained.
Assist the EHS Department with lab analysis to collect data required for
environmental compliance, including preparation and coordination of required
outside analysis (quarterly reporting, stormwater sampling).
Other key responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, reagents,
standards, lab ware and disposables. The lab technician also provides required
support to enable the laboratory to function effectively while adhering to
correct procedures and safety guidelines. The chemical laboratory technician
works in a team oriented environment alongside with Process Engineer, chemical
handlers and production personnel to maintain and troubleshoot wet processes
baths.
Monitor and assess the functioning condition of the Salt spray and Humidity
chambers, along with the load/unloading of test samples and evaluation of
acceptance of the testing.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work may vary dependent on
operational needs.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some
out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000
annually.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or any other related
physical sciences, or Bachelor's degree in other engineering no chemical
related major with at least 2 Year minimum experience with Wet Process
analysis, can be waived for Degree in Chemistry requirement.
Understanding of chemistry and math associated to chemicals addition
calculations.
Analytical laboratory skills.
Understand the requirement of NADCAP for Chemical Processes (Monogram processes
training will be provided).
PC operation and Windows-based programs (Basic Level).
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
