THE OPPORTUNITY

The National College of Education (NCE) at National Louis University is pleased to announce its search for a full-time faculty member in Secondary Education. We seek a colleague who can help provide leadership to the program in World Languages Education. This professional educator may also serve as Program Chair of Secondary Education, working collaboratively with full-time and adjunct faculty members for the preparation of teachers in other areas as well including: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and World Languages.

This is a full-time, 10-month, open rank (Assistant/Associate or full Professor) faculty position (rank determined by experience). The successful candidate will possess expertise in secondary education to support the growth of teacher preparation programs and teach graduate-level coursework at the master's level. Candidates will promote the infusion of current research-based teaching methods into curriculum and instruction in NCE's traditional and alternative Secondary Education programs.

Essential Responsibilities

    Teaching content methods courses and practices corresponding to World Languages curriculum expertise,
  • Coaching teacher candidates in field-based learning experiences,
  • Collaborating across disciplines to analyze teacher and student learning data to continuously design innovative teacher preparation practices.


Qualifications

  • Doctorate earned in World Languages Education or related educational field,
  • Three or more years of secondary-level teaching experience related to the field of World Languages,
  • Demonstrated or planned scholarly research agenda focused on World Languages, secondary education, or teacher education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Is well-versed in the learning sciences and innovative applications of emerging technologies,
  • Has strong teaching and research skills,
  • Has proven experience and proficiency in teaching across various higher education platforms, including online, blended, and face-to-face formats.

Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, current/previous faculty rank, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
