Be a part of the Saint Therese - IHM Senior Living Community! We are looking for an experienced Activity Assistant (Full-time) to work in our 5-star healthcare facility in Monroe, Michigan. The Activities Assistant is responsible to assist the Activities Director in developing, organizing and implementing the activity program for the residents, assist in programming a monthly activity calendar, assist in resident assessments and record keeping, attend meetings, inservices and workshops as directed and drive fleet vehicles as needed. This full-time position will work 9:00am - 5:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Trained and certified for activities or comparable experience with the elderly is preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




  • Enthusiasm and interest in people, especially in regard to working with the elderly.



  • Vision and creativity in planning activities for residents.



  • Ability to learn, understand and support the IHM mission and values.



  • Ability to work collaboratively.



  • Ability to direct and supervise groups and individuals in social, educational and recreational programs.



  • Ability to inspire team spirit and support of staff and volunteers.



  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.



  • Excellent communication skills.



  • Ability to follow direction.



  • Good physical health and emotional stability.



  • Valid driver license and good driving record.



  • Experience with Alzheimer's and Dementia.



  • Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, stoop and move equipment, supplies, etc. throughout the day as necessary.



  • Ability to speak, read and understand the English language.



  • Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of this position can be fully met.



  • Ability to maintain good relationships with others, regardless of personal preferences.
