Description
The Student Account Specialist manages the collections of student accounts for inactive students. The position also will work with current students on account balances, counseling financing options, and assist in the enrollment and management of the internal payment plans. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
Promotes exceptional customer service to students and all customers, including the timely, authoritative and professional response to all inquiries.
- Ability to communicate with customers through phone, email, letter.
Collect tuition & fee payments for active and inactive students and provide necessary reporting and reconciling.
Counsel students/customers on higher education financing options and guide financial decisions.
Continuously monitors, reports on and optimizes student receivable collections and account accuracy for over 1200 active student records.
Manages, communicates, and reports on internal payment plans and ensure compliance with federal and school policy.
Facilitates collection procedures for inactive student and delinquent accounts. Includes monitoring balances, placing accounts with collections, reporting payments, reconciling receivables, processing disputes, etc.
Acts as a back-up to the Director of Student Accounts for procedural duties, including but not limited to student billing, collections, receivables, internal/external communications, etc.
Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of external reporting obligations and compliance requirements.
Facilitates seamless integration with student withdrawals between multiple departments and makes adjustments based on internal policy.
Represent the Student Accounts office at internal and external meetings and conferences to continue professional development.
Develops and updates procedure manuals and other documentation as required.

Qualifications
2-year Associates degree from a college or university in accounting, finance or business administration or comparable work experience required.
Strong analytical skills required.
Qualified candidate must be proactive, self-managing, engaged, motivated, act with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently.
