GENERAL SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support to daily operations, product design, process improvement and cost reduction as assigned; providing the machines, tooling and processes necessary for that support; and for providing timely coordinated implementation of short- and long-term projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Evaluates and improves upon existing manufacturing processes. Assists operations management and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems.
  • Produce and maintain support documentation to control processes and costs while maintaining quality. Includes: Manufacturing work instructions, time studies, machinery or related equipment as needed.
  • Plans and implements process engineering activities for new product development and current product support. Facilitates smooth transition of projects from Engineering to Manufacturing including analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, work instructions and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Justify new or replacement tooling, machines and equipment. Prepare capital authorization requests and manage installation and start-up.
  • Act as training person for specialized processes.
  • Assist and support in environmental, health and safety programs.
  • Assist and support plant and facility maintenance.
  • Provide make vs. buy analysis and standard cost estimates.
  • Create and maintain shop floor routings.
  • Ability to write detailed test plans for process deviations.
  • Create rework work orders for the shop floor.
  • Proficient at utilizing the latest SolidWorks 3D solid modeling software for fixture and tooling design.
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in specifying and improving manufacturing processes.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Have significant knowledge of ERP systems in order to understand engineering process flow and make informed business decisions; experience in Oracle NetSuite is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively with vendors and employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications for the creation of customized and automated spreadsheets to support ongoing and future manufacturing processes and business concern


PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Welding process knowledge MIG, TIG, SMAW. Experience writing welding qualification procedures including WPS and PQR. Hands on welding experience a plus.
  • Proficient in the manufacture and application of various elastomer compounds including NBR, EPDM and others. An understanding of the (rubber) transfer molding process.
  • Proficient in the application of 2-part epoxy spray coatings and fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) powder coat paint. Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement process improvements in the application of epoxy coatings.
  • Process Design & Optimization: Develop and implement efficient assembly processes, ensuring optimal workflow, material flow, and cycle time. Design assembly processes with a strong focus on ergonomics and safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve assembly techniques, reduce waste and enhance product quality using Lean Methodologies such as waste reduction, PDCA, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, 5S and Visual Management.
  • Production Support: Provide technical support to the assembly team, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Process Documentation: Develop and maintain standardized work instructions for assembly processes to ensure consistent production quality and reduce variability.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Position requires movement around the facilities.
  • Factory floor support is imperative.
  • Occasional handling of material and components
  • The physical requirements of the job are related to some testing in the engineering lab, field service activities that can be part of the job assignments or handling component parts in the plant during a quality inspection.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $73,735 to $92,168 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
