Advantage Technical is
currently seeking a Research and Development Engineer for an onsite position in Maple Grove, MN. This role is integral to the new product development initiatives and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic R&D team comprising approximately 10 cross-functional professionals.

Job Purpose

The R&D Engineer will independently develop new technologies, products, materials, processes, or equipment with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for executing plans for significant segments of complex projects while compiling and analyzing operational, test, and research data to establish technical specifications for product design and modification.

Key Responsibilities



  1. Generate innovative solutions to market needs and submit idea disclosures aimed at developing or refining products and processes.
  2. Complete complex engineering tasks related to technology development, product design, material testing, specification preparation, and research investigations.
  3. Select appropriate techniques to solve complex problems and make informed design recommendations.
  4. Analyze complex test results and summarize findings in detailed reports for the technical community.
  5. Design and coordinate engineering tests and experiments to validate product performance.
  6. Manage project goals and progress documentation while recommending necessary revisions.
  7. Interface with medical professionals to gather feedback on new devices' concepts and performance.
  8. Translate customer needs into actionable product requirements and design specifications.
  9. Ensure compliance with quality systems by integrating quality into all aspects of work.



Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 1-2 years of experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), mechanical design, creating detailed mechanical drawings, 3D printing, and machining for rapid prototyping.
  • Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective teamwork across various departments.



Preferred Experience



  • Extensive experience in mechanical design focused on components and complex assemblies (including injection-molded and machined parts).
  • Practical experience in prototype development, testing, and iteration.
