RK&K is currently seeking an experienced Natural Resources Project Manager for our Virginia market. In this role you will assist with leading a team of environmental professionals to complete diverse projects in Natural Resources, Permitting, Stormwater Management, Hazardous Materials, and Environmental Restoration. The Project Manager will develop and manage budgets and schedules and is responsible for mentoring staff. Essential Function
- Provide technical expertise and project management for a variety of environmental projects requiring regulatory approval.
- Lead natural resources projects, but also support projects in hazardous materials, stormwater management, and environmental restoration including stream and wetland mitigation.
- Identify project-specific environmental design and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with DEQ, DWR, VMRC, USACE, USFWS, USCG, EPA and other regulatory agencies to achieve successful authorizations.
- Coordinate, conduct, and lead field work at a senior level.
- Mentor staff by training employees, establishing personal growth opportunities and conducting performance evaluations.
- Author and review technical reports, and prepare environmental permit applications.
- Meet and work directly with other design team members including project managers, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients.
- Interact with clients and build those relationships.
- Proactively deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Develop accurate scopes of work and budget estimates for proposals.
- Provide excellent client service with a focus on quality and timeliness.
- Facilitate meetings and lead presentations with clients, and at public meetings.
- Lead marketing pursuits and cultivate new work.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Natural Resources permitting and a progressive career in management.
- Current and relevant Virginia project and regulatory experience.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail with a team-work attitude
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master's Degree Natural Resources, Environmental Science or related field
- ArcGIS experience.
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or similar certification.
