We are currently seeking a STEM Summer Intern. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following duties and possess the following education and experience.

Duties:

Test Platform Fabrication:



  • Interns will be involved in the fabrication of test platforms, applying principles of marine and mechanical engineering to construct robust structures for experimental purposes.


Plumbing and Wiring:



  • Gaining hands-on experience in plumbing and wiring systems for various marine equipment and test setups. Interns will gain practical skills in ensuring the seamless functionality of experimental apparatus.


Construction and Design:



  • Participate in the design and construction of innovative prototypes and devices, incorporating mechanical and electrical engineering elements to contribute to the research and development process. Biology experimental design and setup incorporating laptop and field experiments. Data Recording and Measurements: Accurately record and measure experimental data using appropriate tools and instruments. Learn calibration techniques to ensure precision in data collection.


Maintaining Logbook:



  • Keep detailed and organized records in a logbook, documenting procedures, observations, and any deviations from the expected results. Develop skills in maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation.


Photography:



  • Capture clear and informative photographs of experimental setups, equipment, and results for documentation and presentation purposes.


Running Tests:



  • Assist in conducting various tests, following established protocols, and contributing to the execution of experiments in collaboration with the research team.


Experience Requirements:



  • Strong interest in research and development, with a desire to contribute to innovative projects. Proficiency in time management to balance multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Problem-solving and analytical skills to address challenges encountered during experiments. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration within the team.


Education Requirements:



  • Rising HS Seniors or College Students working toward a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, including Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and/or Chemistry


Physical Requirements:



  • Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment requires constant exposure to outdoor weather conditions.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The hourly rate for this position is $17.75 (hourly USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
