In the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer (Hydropower), we'll count on you to:

  • Coordinate the work of design engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
  • Develop hydro-mechanical project solutions for both modernization and new projects.
  • Perform engineering consulting, including condition assessments, studies, mechanical engineering and detailed design, calculations, and specification development.
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings
  • Assume technical lead within a project execution team
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Coordinate workload throughout the project to complete project deliverables on schedule
  • Evaluating field installations and recommending design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
  • Provide field support during construction.
  • Provide support in developing proposals.
  • Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Engineering
  • Hydro power industry experience
  • Experience with rotating equipment, heavy machinery, and engineering design
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Professional Engineers (PE) license
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
