DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role focused on wildland fire management within the Moshannon State Forest, your responsibilities encompass fire suppression, investigation, preparedness, prevention, training, prescribed burning, management of Federal surplus equipment, and assistance to emergency response organizations. Furthermore, you will oversee maintenance staff and occasionally provide guidance and direction to other district personnel, forest fire wardens, and volunteer firefighters engaged in fire-related activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Penfield.
  • Overtime and travel as needed for wildfire assignments, other emergency work, and to attend trainings and meetings
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four seasons of experience in fire suppression and pre-suppression work, and graduation from high school, or certification of equivalent training;or
  • Any combination of education and experience which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skill, and abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license of the proper class for the vehicles operated, as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
