POSITION SUMMARY: As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Student, you will work closely with our production team to provide technical support across various stages of the coach build process, including concept, prototype, pilot, and production builds. You'll assist with design changes, accuracy audits, and continuous improvement events to help ensure our coaches meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist with the first and subsequent builds of new systems or revisions to existing systems.
  • Support production planning to ensure readiness for upcoming builds.
  • Provide routing and assembly sequences for components through the subassembly and coach assembly line.
  • Prepare and propose design changes or revisions to improve current designs.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction projects to lower overall production costs.
  • Conduct audits to measure the accuracy of bills of materials and routings, identifying root causes of inaccuracies.
  • Review and recommend tooling and fixtures to enhance the assembly process.
  • Research and introduce new manufacturing practices or technologies.
  • Prepare production documentation (procedures, work instructions, visual aids) to ensure builds meet design and customer specifications.
  • Participate in problem-solving meetings and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping).
Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Actively pursuing or completed certification as a Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineer or Engineering Technologist.
  • Preferably some experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong self-motivation with minimal supervision and process-oriented thinking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in a manufacturing setting.
