Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Business Application Specialist to join our Property and Casualty Program Division at CBIZ. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical skills in developing and managing innovative new business applications, managing and analyzing data from multiple sources, including underwriting, claims, sales, and other third-party systems and databases. The successful candidate will be a database and Excel power user who thrives on organizing complex data sets and delivering actionable insights to support our team's operating and decision-making processes.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

Technical Support and Applications:

  • Work with internal and third-party vendors to support the development, implementation and maintenance of business applications used by the Program Division.

  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing workflows related to data systems.

  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure data integrity and efficient use of business applications.

  • Collaborate with our insurance carrier partner on bordereaux requirements and data transfer as well as coordinating with their analytics team.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Gather, clean, and organize data from multiple internal and external sources (claims, sales, underwriting, billing, third-party systems).

  • Design and maintain databases and data pipelines to streamline data collection and reporting processes.

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with claims, underwriting, and program leadership teams to understand applications and data needs and deliver tailored solutions that are aligned with business goals.

  • Present analytical findings in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Provide comprehensive training to end-users on application features, functionality, and best practices.

  • Support ad-hoc projects and data analysis requests as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas).

  • Experience with databases and query languages such as SQL.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

  • Working knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R).

  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Enthusiasm for learning innovative technologies and methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Zero to two years of professional experience with analysis, information science, or other relevant quantitative field

  • Possesses fundamental knowledge and understanding of database interface tools, SQL and programming concepts, data management best practices

  • Possesses fundamental knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and professional standards

  • Proficient use of applicable technology

  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Skype)

  • Experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills

  • Ability to anticipate and elicit customer needs

  • Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly

  • Motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Capacity to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations, and with various individuals or groups

  • Display innovative ideas and solutions and capacity to identify and eliminate redundant work efforts and inefficient processes

  • Ability to travel as necessary
