The Learning & Organizational Development Director leads a team responsible for the design and delivery of all online, instructor-led, and blended talent development and learning programs across the entire organization. This position is also responsible for partnering with senior- and executive-level leaders to guide strategic organizational development initiatives such as succession planning, high-potential programs, employee/team performance, engagement, culture, and mission connection.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide high-level oversight, guidance, and strategic leadership to a team responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating (online, instructor-led, blended) talent development and learning programs across a distributed work environment.

  • Responsible for the development of long-term organizational development strategy and curricula in support of changing organizational and mission needs.

  • Provide operational and strategic leadership for talent development processes, programs, and initiatives related to:

    • Employee onboarding and acculturation

    • Performance management (e.g., coaching, feedback, leadership effectiveness, and competency modeling)

    • Professional and career development (e.g., career paths, mobility, mentorship, and coaching programs)

    • Succession Planning and Talent Assessment (e.g., High Potential identification and tracking, calibration, targeted development planning)

    • Executive leader development

  • Partner with senior and executive stakeholders to enable OD interventions, drive diagnostic efforts, and support complex cross-functional initiatives focused on enhancing leadership and/or team effectiveness, engagement, or mission connection.

  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships and balance priorities and assignments across the learning and organizational development team.

  • Oversee content management of the organization's internal Learning Management System to include the design, delivery, and tracking/reporting of custom content related to:

    • Professional and Technical Skills Development

    • Business application training (e.g., Salesforce)

    • Ethics, Policy, and Compliance training.

  • Identify and address gaps and misalignments in the design and delivery of learning and development across the organization.

  • Oversee administration of the learning and organizational development budget and review/selection of external consultants, vendors, and resources.

  • Monitor and report on program effectiveness, completion, and ROI, to guide continuous improvement.

  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to translate strategic goals into appropriate development programs while using instructional design expertise, including data analysis, adult learning, curriculum development and blended learning strategies.

  • Demonstrated competency with adult learning concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Expertise in performance consulting, including the ability to clearly define desired outcomes and identify when training is the right solution.

  • High degree of emotional intelligence with ability to confidently and capably engage and coach individuals at all levels of an organization.

  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

  • Excellent program and project management skills with the ability to initiate and drive organization-wide initiatives.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to analyze information, identify problems, and solve problems using effective solutions.

  • Ability to manage confidential information with a well-developed sense of how to treat sensitive information.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively articulate complex information.

  • Well-developed ability to interact with diverse team members and build effective working relationships with others.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to remain composed, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Ten years' experience designing and implementing broad scale instructor-led and blended development programs and initiatives.

  • Eight years of formal leadership and/or supervisory experience.

  • Five years of experience in organizational development or design.

Preferences

  • Experience utilizing 360 assessment systems.

  • Experience with DDI or comparable competency platform.

  • Experience utilizing a Learning Management System to deliver self-paced learning solutions.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferences

  • Master's degree.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

Requirements

  • Valid government-issued driver's license.

Preferences

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment; temperature controlled.

  • Up to 10% travel.
