As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join other smart, talented, and dedicated engineers that pride themselves in analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and their customers.
This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
This position may be eligible for a partial telecommuting schedule.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership in support of the Subsystems such as Radar, Command destruct for the Western Range (WR) and maintain situational awareness of all activities and issues related to assigned subsystems
- Conduct Subsystem Working Group (SSWG) meetings to ensure subsystem needs and deficiencies are being addressed on the Western Range and that a resolution/way ahead plan is in place. This includes at a minimum reviewing and dispositioning Deficiency Reports, DMSMS cases, Risks, Spare Part Levels and Anomaly Reports and Launch Customer Program Requirements Documents.
- Identify, document, and prioritize assigned subsystem needs/deficiencies
- Support the development of annual and out year spend plans to identify LISC-initiated recommended projects as well as recommended Government-funded projects
- Provide systems engineering support for products and/or processes including the identification and review of changes to the Configuration Item (CI) Tree as it relates to assigned subsystems
- Serve as a RGNext Engineering point of contact to the Government for assigned subsystems
- Provide project systems engineering and integration support to assigned internal and external projects as they relate to assigned subsystems
- Participate in and brief Government Project Integrated Product Team (IPT)
- Focus on Project Integration with additional work in other Systems Engineering meetings to ensure systems engineering and integration needs and assigned activities and milestones are completed on time
- Develop inputs to basis of estimates and proposals in support of Surveillance and Optics-related efforts
- Analyze, develop, recommend, and implement approaches to meet all assigned tasks and milestones
- Prepare technical documentation including briefing material and reports to communicate information to appropriate personnel including leadership and external customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills

Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline
- Minimum of two years' experience in an engineering or technical environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Experience managing projects, to include providing inputs on project proposals within defined time constraints involving multi-discipline teams
- Experience integrating moderately complex hardware and software systems
- Fundamental knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and systems engineering processes
- Experience with DOORS, preferred
- Experience working on the Western Range (Vandenberg Space Force Base) preferred
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to travel 10% of time
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
- Valid U.S. Driver's License

The salary range for this role is $83,200 to $123,568; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
