Hourly, Non-Exempt (overtime eligible)

Reports To: SIRS Maintenance Manager

Position Type

Full-Time

1st Shift: Mon. - Fri. 6am - 3:30pm, some weekends and overtime as required

Pay Rate: $24-28+/hour, based on experience, training, and employment history

SUMMARY

The SIRS Maintenance Technician - Rolling Stock is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing trucks, tractor and trailers related to electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Ensure scheduled and preventative maintenance is performed in accordance with manufacturers guidelines, federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Work with little or no supervision and adapt to frequent delays and workflow interruptions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines, daily tasks and projects are completed on time.
  • Utilize CMMS (Dossier) and maintenance repair software.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Complies with all company safety regulations and policies.
  • Routinely lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to accurately read and take measurements.
  • Change and properly torque commercial truck/trailer tires.
  • Travel by motorized vehicle 10% of the time.
  • May repair other equipment such as material handlers, forklifts, and skid steers.
  • Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public, and be able to respond to complaints with respect and consideration.
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two years of related experience
  • Technical/mechanical training in the following fields preferred:

    • Electrical - highly preferred
    • Mechanical - highly preferred
    • Hydraulic - basic preferred
    • Commercial braking systems
    • Diesel engines





SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Must be able or willing to operate the following types of tools:



      • Pneumatic
      • Welders
      • Gas cutting torch/plasma cutter
      • Cordless hand tools
      • Torque wrenches
      • Multi meters







PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Requires sitting, standing, and walking for duration of shift.
  • Routinely performs movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, kneeling, climbing, or crouching.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Routinely exposed to moving and mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, and outside weather.
  • Occasionally push/pull 400-2000 pounds using a pallet jack.
  • Possesses dexterity in hands and fingers to perform assigned tasks.
  • Requires specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
