Responsibilities

  • Assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
  • Observe patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
  • Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
  • Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
  • Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.
  • Additionally, assists in providing treatments to patients, performs technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting of extremities, and performs ECGs as ordered.
  • Coordinates daily activities for assigned units to include general clerical and administrative support and participates in performance improvement activities to enhance and maintain personal and department qualifications and standards of performance.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification required, or maybe in senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program.
  • Must maintain active certification within the State of Texas.
  • BLS required - must have certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 5 years' experience in acute or long-term care
