DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a BF&R attorney, you will be responsible for reviewing Pennsylvania tax appeal petitions filed by taxpayers to determine the accuracy of the Department of Revenue, Board of Appeals' (BOA), decisions and orders. You will review the BOA's decision and order the taxpayer's case file, including taxpayer returns and audit reports, along with the applicable tax law to make recommendations to the board regarding the proper resolution of the tax appeal. In this position, you will work independently under the direction of a supervising attorney in a relaxed environment that currently offers a hybrid work from home opportunity. This position has qualified as a public service job for loan forgiveness purposes. Treasury has regularly reimbursed for required law license and relevant continued legal education fees. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days a week. Management may discontinue the telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will report daily to your headquarters location.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of law and certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; or
- Completion of all preparatory steps and application to become a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Post Employment Requirement:
- Applicants must be certified for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and must maintain membership on a continuous basis during employment.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook or the ability to learn relevant software applications.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Possession of a current license to practice law in Pennsylvania.
- Full-time professional legal experience.
- Completion of post-graduate coursework in law.
- Full-time professional tax administration experience.
