Job Overview: The Program Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the PROUD Gender Center of NJ (PGCNJ), ensuring that transgender and non-binary individuals receive access to gender-affirming care, resources, and support. This role involves patient coordination, program facilitation, event planning, and community outreach. This role is ideal for someone passionate about advocacy, patient support, and community engagement within the transgender and non-binary community. Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor s degree in a social or human services, health education, health science or any related field or equivalent experience
- 1-2 year of experience working within a transgender specific program mandatory, three years preferred
- Strong knowledge on the unique healthcare needs of transgender and gender non-conforming people
- Must have the ability to deal with difficult interactions with care, compassion and assertiveness, and the confidence and ability to work alone. Ability to relate effectively to people of a wide variety of backgrounds
- Computer proficiency with excellent knowledge on Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), standard electronic health record system, and phone systems
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. High level of critical/analytical/interpretive thinking and problem-solving skills
- Must have reliable form of transportation for events/outreach
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift- Monday- Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Hybrid
- Some weekends required for events and outreach activities.
- Full-Time
Essential Functions:
- Patient Coordination & Support:
- Link patients to gender-affirming providers, services, community resources, and support networks
- Provide referrals and follow up with patients
- Manage patient tracking and records
- Handle online and phone inquiries
- Accompany RWJUH patients to surgery and/or medical appointments
- Offer counseling and guidance to individuals navigating their transitions
- Support Group Facilitation & Program Development:
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly support groups for transgender and non-binary individuals
- Secure guest speakers, manage invoices, send email reminders, and order food and supplies
- Oversee the following support groups:
- PROUDLY Me, 2nd Thursday of the month
- Grupo Latinx, 3rd Friday of the month
- Pre/Post Op Surgery, Last Wednesday of the month
- Develop presentations, handouts, flyers, and curriculum for support programs
- Manage the PROUD Gender Center Facebook account
- Rutgers Health Gender Clinic Coordination:
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments through Epic
- Organize and execute quarterly events
- Conduct Trans 101 training sessions for hospital staff, providers, social service workers, and community members
- Event Planning & Community Engagement:
- Coordinate annual PGCNJ events, including:
- Pride Flag Raising, June
- PROUD Awards, October
- Friendsgiving, November
- Trans Day of Remembrance, November
- Trans Day of Visibility, March
- Attend and participate in PROUD Advisory Council meetings (3rd Wednesday of each month)
- Represent PGCNJ at community outreach initiatives, speaking engagements, and tabling events
