We're looking for a creative engineering student to design and develop software prototypes, find weaknesses in source code and research methods for software resilience. We need a technology-focused team member who has experience with software engineering, developing, analyzing, and testing C and C++ source code. You'll develop tools, techniques, and processes to solve some of the most difficult software challenges that our government faces.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a degree granting program such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or similar

  • Able to work an internship schedule during the summer 2025 semester

  • Able to come on-site to the SEI Pittsburgh office

  • Candidates will be subject to a background check

  • Candidates for this position must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship. CMU will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.

Relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities include one or more of the following:

  • Proficient software development skills in C++ and one or more of the following: C, Python, MATLAB, C#, or JAVA

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems

  • Able to work in an Agile based work environment collaboratively with other engineers

  • Familiarity with the various stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
