Summary: The Lead Psychologist on the Pediatric Inpatient Medical/Psychiatric unit combines leadership and clinical responsibilities providing a full range of psychological services including psychological assessment treatment planning and psychotherapy as well as program management and development under the direction of the Medical Director of the Pediatric Inpatient Medical/Psychiatric unit and the Director of Child Psychology. Responsibilities: PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver Patient Care * Direct and Indirect:
* Provide individual and family therapy to assigned patients.
* Coordinate systems meetings for assigned patients with multiple providers.
Conduct psychological assessments and develop individualized behavior plans for assigned patients and work with milieu staff to implement and carry out effectively.
Coordinate care within multidisciplinary team as well as consulting providers on treatment for assigned patients
* Coordinate disposition planning and aftercare transition for assigned patients.
* Provide group therapy for patients and families.
* Attend skills group sessions and provide real-time support to milieu staff.
Coordination with other disciplines in reviewing referred patients and coordinating admissions.

Provide Leadership and Clinician Group Management:
* As a member of the program leadership team coordinate and collaborate with other leadership team members to:
* Represent clinician group and transmit pertinent information to and from the clinician group;
* Take an active role in program development;
Review modify and optimize current unit policies and procedures;
* Problem solve challenging care dynamics;
Open and maintain lines of communication with families providers and other hospital entities to support optimal patient experience;
* Collaborate to develop and maintain ongoing staff education opportunities.
Support Clinician Group:
* Support bridging of philosophical framework for treatment and implementation/delivery of treatment in concert with medical director and clinical nurse manager to promote consistency of the treatment model;
Provide clinical consultation and support for other primary therapists as well as nurses and mental health workers;
* Coordinate clinical coverage for primary therapists for vacations/absences.
Support Trainees:
* Provide/delegate direct and indirect supervision for psychology trainees (Hasbro 6 and Psychiatry Consult/Liaison service).
* Provide direct and indirect supervision for psychiatry trainees rotating on Hasbro 6 including orientation to role of trainee in terms of psychotherapy.
Coordinate with other services for joint learning opportunities.
Prepare submit and maintain all required clinical reports and records.
Participate in Department and Hospital committee meetings as assigned.
Observe and enforce all Hospital policies rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as required assigned or directed to provide maximum benefit and utilization of psychological services to patients and to the Hospital
Contribute to unit program evaluation and research endeavors. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
A doctoral level psychologist who meets current Specialty Guidelines for a Clinical Psychologist as set forth by the American Psychological Association (including APA-approved doctoral training program and internship or equivalent).

Licensed or license eligible in Rhode Island.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE.
Preferred candidates will have experience in multidisciplinary inpatient settings as well as experience treating children and adolescents with complex medical and psychiatric problems and their families. Experience in program management and development is highly desired.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within Program policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of Program policies and procedures may be required.
