The Nursing Business Office Specialist I/II reports directly to the Nursing Business Office Manager. This position provides administrative expertise to support core business operations. Under minimal supervision, this role manages schedules, time and attendance, and payroll data support for a diverse professional and para-professional workforce that supports a 24 hour/365-day patient care delivery model. This role uses an understanding of the hospital's scheduling and time and attendance systems to accurately pay employees in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and hospital policies. As a function of the onboarding process for new staff, the nursing business office specialist proactively provisions new hires to key information technology systems and registers them to assigned computer-based training modules based on job class and specialty. Manages unit schedules based on established grids ensuring that shifts are filled with qualified employees up to their FTE and they are placed in required shifts with accurate pay rules. Submits hours for payroll processing after reviewing timecards and work rules for accuracy, resolving missing swipes, scheduled shifts are on timecards, cost center transfers, assigned jobs and pay codes are correct. Processes historical edits and follows up on overpayment issues. Monitors employee attendance records, prompting manager involvement in counseling process when a rule variant occurs; includes follow up that the counseling occurred and all is accurately documented. Salary Range: Minimum 20.22 per hour - Maximum 33.38 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
