HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE! ONSITE REPORTING REQUIRED. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of leadership personnel; works in a self-directed manner to install, test, document, and maintain assigned laboratory information systems within specified boundaries according to established protocols; makes formal written and oral presentations on projects in compliance with established project methodology; and interacts with laboratories and laboratory systems customers. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with clients and/or managerial personnel in order to determine and define
specific systems' information requirements and objectives for laboratory systems requests. - Assists project leaders in completing evaluations on new project requests.
- Determines causes of laboratory systems malfunctions and issues using appropriate
analysis steps for the duties assigned.
Project Management
- Involved in laboratory projects with a focused scope and low to moderate degree of
organizational scope, impact, and risk. Projects are independent or assignments from a larger project coordinated by other analysts. - Participates on project teams and completes assignments from project leaders,
measures project progress, and reports the status of projects to client and project leaders.
Systems/Applications Development
- Designs and specifies laboratory systems application functionality using appropriate
application tools - Assures that applications designs meet the needs across the user base of HFHS
pathology. - Defines application security and control procedures, when required for assigned
position. - Develops application test plans and evaluates and documents the results of testing.
Systems/Applications Implementation - Develops plans for the implementation of laboratory systems applications and
enhancements for pathology. Trains users and validates performance as needed or for updates.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1. Completion of an accredited bachelor's degree program in a chemical, physical, or biologic science, computer science, medical technology, or clinical laboratory science. Alternatively, completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree with five or more clinical laboratory science courses (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Statistics, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, computer sciences). 2. Moderate level of analytical ability in order to gather and interpret data to determine the applicability to develop and to integrate data processing systems to process information 3. Planning skills to manage personal workload in a self-directed work environment and to complete assignments, projects, and issue resolution within appropriate timeframes. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and transportation to travel to locations
throughout HFHS as needed. Working hours will vary based on projects, support needs, and on-call responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION DESIRED:
- Experience with clinical information systems, particularly laboratory information systems
Knowledge of laboratory business processes and instrumentation - Certification from a recognized national agency such as ASCP, ASM, ACS, HEW, or
NCA - Programming skills and/or information systems development tools experience
