What You'll Do

Inspects, tests, repairs, services, fabricates, alters, and installs a wide variety of electrical power, electronic, and instrumental equipment, including controlling devices and wiring systems; precision mechanical, electro-mechanical, computers, telephone equipment, radio networks, facsimile systems failures, determines necessary corrective action and completes restoration to service. Operates machine tools and complex test equipment as necessary. Must be able to work at heights, pole climbing or bucket truck work, and work in confined spaces, underground man-holes, underground tunnels. Physical exertion to climb and crawl could be daily. Bending and twisting, lifting and hauling could be daily activities. Must work as ateam member.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology is strongly desired. Requires journeyman Lineman/Linewoman with four years of experience (or equivalent) in operation, construction, and maintenance of aerialpower transmission and distribution class utility systems (161 kV, 13.8 kV, 480 V, 120 V, etc.).
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in: the operation, construction, and safe work practices associated with transmission and distribution system, structures, and components; operation of bucket and derrick trucks; use, care, and storage of personal protective equipment associated with high-voltage line work; Utility hoisting and rigging; climbing and working on poles and structures; and emergency pole-top rescue, CPR, and first aid. Employee will also be required to complete or qualify in: Y-12 Distribution Course and subsequent refresher classes, High-Voltage Safety Course, Carcinogen and PCB Worker, and attain a Commercial Driver's License and satisfactorily complete all other training requirements.

  • Must work as a team member.
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e., High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
