Role Summary

The Visual Identity Design team, which is nested within the Rivian Marketing team, is looking for a Sr. Production Designer that has a keen eye for extending concepts across a wide range of design deliverables. We are looking for a highly detailed and agile production designer that can take final concepts and extend them into implementation-ready artwork, systems, and design standards. The project work covers all visual communications, graphic design, and signage designs across physical spaces and digital experiences. This design role is nested within the Brand Experience team. Cross-functional collaborators include but are not limited to: Marketing, Communications, Digital Design, Product Design, Retail Development, Operations, Facilities, and various Suppliers.


Responsibilities

  • End-to-end production-oriented designer: Strong design development and design intent documentation skills, paired with ability to execute on technical production.
  • Ability to convert concept drawings to artwork files for production.
  • Work in partnership with our design and product teams. Become an expert in our products-you'll take complex product knowledge and translate it back into design templates.
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional teams such as digital and product teams to ensure consistent design systems across various visual platforms including web, print, and the built environment.
  • Work within our graphic language while maintaining a consistent voice throughout our Rivian Identity ecosystem.
  • Support design development, design intent, and design guidelines/templates for digital ads and graphics across social platforms, web, email, and instore applications.
  • Assist in managing design standards for signage & wayfinding standards, retail fixture & graphic standards, that can be implemented & scaled globally.
  • Review brand-related drawings, design details, finish samples, hardware & equipment specifications to ensure proper coordination of design intent & execution.
  • Support with specifying finishes, substrates, and production methods for both print & environmental designs.
  • Create elevations, sketches, & illustrations to convey design intent.
  • Assist project teams in managing external vendors & consultants to ensure a project meets budget, schedule, & quality through project completion.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various project locations for on-site vendor coordination and reviews.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of this position.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a highly detailed production design role.
  • A track record of on-time artwork delivery with no errors or delays.
  • Skilled in not only managing your own work, but champions a holistic design team voice.
  • Ability to pick things up quickly, manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting timelines and priorities.
  • You get satisfaction in shaping experiences through the power of strong design execution and standards creation.
  • Enjoy supporting an amazing 360 degree campaign just as much as managing our Brand Guidelines and Standards.
  • You think big picture andsweat the details.
  • You're collaborative and enjoy solving problems.
  • You're not afraid to ask why. A lot.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and a willingness to pivot as needed.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and can work independently and in a team environment under tight deadlines.
  • A college degree in graphic design, communication arts, or architecture.
  • Understanding of fabrication methods, building codes & materiality
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating built environmental graphics & branding systems, design standards, and
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal & visual
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite as well as knowledge using Illustrator CADTools.
  • Experience working in a collaborative Figma project environment and process
  • Ability to review shop drawings and submittals
  • Coordination of installations & communicating with internal & external project architects
  • Strong sense of scale & familiarity with architectural elevations & plans
  • Meticulously organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be resourceful, innovative, and proactive

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $87,300 to $109,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
