Transportation/Traffic Designer - Analysis | Hybrid | Hauppauge, NY

VHB is seeking a Transportation/Traffic Engineer/Designer with strong modeling capabilities and approximately 3 to 5 years of experience to join our Transportation team. VHB's Northeast Mobility group is a leader in the industry, working on a slate of interesting and dynamic transportation and mobility solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
• Assist Senior Engineers with a variety of transportation/traffic projects
• Participate in performing traffic impact studies, including parking and safety studies
• Assist in developing and calibrating traffic microsimulation models to evaluate multiple scenarios, debug models to generate realistic results, explain the results of microsimulation models to clients in an accessible manner, and have the ability to independently accomplish these tasks with minimal oversight
• Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvements
• Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics to assess the mobility needs of a community
• Assist with conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle paths, etc. design
• Assist and prepare/review technical memoranda and reports
• Prepare and deliver analysis findings, concerns, and recommendations in a collaborative fashion

Skills & Abilities:

• A strong background in traffic engineering, traffic modeling and task management
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
• Strong writing skills for technical reports, and memoranda
• The ability to balance multiple concurrent assignments
• Thrives working in a team environment

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of professional transportation/traffic engineering/design experience required
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation or related field of study required
• Master's degree a plus
• Engineer In Training certification preferred
• Proficiency in Vissim modeling and Synchro required

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $86,000-107,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
